Biography

Susan Bray Stainback, Professor Emerita at the University of Northern Iowa, began her teaching career in 1968. She received her doctorate in the areas of Disability Studies and Educational Research from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1973. Since that time she has worked in higher education and held such positions as Matthew J Guglielmo Endowed Chair for Distinguished Scholars at California State University and the Deforest L. Struck Endowed Chair Professorship at the University of San Diego. She has also served as a visiting scholar in a variety of universities in and outside the United States. Susan has authored and co-authored numerous books and journal articles that have focused primarily in the areas of equity issues and inclusive education.
